Primo

Graphic posters for a music campaign

Primo; the online music campaign set to showing music through graphics instead of audial senses. The processing of a song was achieved by using a mathematical approach. This was then visualised in a clever but simple way using effective colour palettes and circular compositions.

We wanted to ensure that, although the process may not be known when witnessing the poster, that it still made a connection with anyone who approached the posters. Symbolising not only the audial experience of a song but the emotional feelings they evoke as well.

The Story & First Sketches

Firstly I created an algorithm for processing the songs. Replacing each chord per song with a colour and counting down each chord per 0.5 second I was able to turn the chords of the entire song into a visual representation which could be mapped across the page. Velocity and volumeĀ of sounds were also taken into consideration.

Colour Palette

Decade music and colours go hand in hand. For this project I wanted a set of colours to represent each stylistic poster and work well on their own or in a group together.
